Écorce’s Je soutiens Le Devoir campaign (“I support Le Devoir” in English), launched last May, won Best Digital Advertising Campaign during the first edition of the North American Digital Media Awards.
For one day, readers who visited the daily newspaper’s official site were redirected to a fake news site, where after navigating around the page they would see the slogan “La vérité, c’est que Le Devoir a besoin de vous ” (“The truth is, Le Devoir needs you”).
As explained by campaign ambassadors Christine Beaulieu, Emmanuel Bilodeau, Vincent Vallières, Vincent Graton and Anne-Élisabeth Bossé, supporting the newspaper in any way helps ensure its survival. The campaign, which raised more than $600,000 in donations, was named one of the finalists in the international competition. “Le Devoir has made it into the big leagues,” said Brian Myles during his acceptance speech for the prize, which is awarded by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers.
Le Devoir Mobile was also one of the finalists in the category Best News Mobile Service.
